Release number eight on ManMakeMusic , the Laszlo Dancehall EP, connects two of the UK’s most exciting young producers: Leon Vynehall and Christian Piers. The sample driven crunch of Vynehall’s earlier productions on ManMakeMusic can be heard loud and clear complementing the canny but irresistible percussive and vocal shimmies of Piers.

A-side track “Gave Up”, championed by *George FitzGerald* on his recent BBC Essential mix for Radio One, sets the pace and aims straight at the dancefloor with its strange sonic palette, at once euphoric and gritty. On the flip we get “Ain’t No Time” on which Vynehall and Piers give us their interpretation of classic house. The final track, “Manley Harrison”, is the strangest and arguably most original of the bunch. It’s been getting support from Anthony Naples amongst others and leaves any listener in no doubt as to why there is such a buzz about these two producers at the moment.

Wadi us-Salaam, which literally means the Valley of Peace, is an Islamic cemetery located in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq. The cemetery covers an area of 1485.5 acres and contains millions of bodies, making it one of the strongest contender for the title of the largest graveyard on earth. Najaf itself is one of Iraq’s biggest cities, with a population of nearly 600,000. But the adjoining city of the dead holds the remains of millions, stretching for up to 10km along the valley. Wadi Al-Salam cemetery is also the only cemetery in the world where the process of burial is still continuing to day since more than 1,400 years.

Materials: Phosphor Bronze, real dandelions and LED’s. Each creation (except commisions) are limited to 8 pieces and 2 Artist Proofs

FRAGILE FUTURE III tells the story about the amalgamation of nature and technology. In the distant future these two extremes have made a pact to survive. FRAGILE FUTURE III combines an electrical system with real dandelions in a light sculpture that is predestined to overgrow a surface.

“Think of the transience of a dandelion – one blow and it has gone. It is a plant familiar to every country and every culture, yet nobody really stops to look at it. In our increasingly technological world, I wanted to create something that could only be made by putting so much time and care into it; something that was not designed to be replaced by something else. The LED light seems a total contradiction, but in fact it is the same size as the normal dandelion stem and matches it perfectly. People said to use real dandelions was not possible and not practical, but the change of context makes people look again and see the plant in all its beauty for the first time.”

After the success of our launch party, which saw Eliphino, Artifact and Olsen take to decks behind big red, vibes were on absolute point and you guys, the crowd, smashed it.

We’re back on Wednesday April 24th, with a very exciting line up, headlined by Last Japan and Squarehead, and supported by Tranmsission Collectives Maru, Leeds first lady of parties, Jo Kira, and resident Man Like Milner. This will be special, come join the dance.
